Splitsville for Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith
Stick a fork in ’em: After 18 years of marriage, Melanie Griffith has filed for divorce from Antonio Banderas.
According to the court documents filed in Los Angeles this week, the Working Girl actress cites irreconcilable differences and is requesting child support and sole custody of the couple’s daughter, Stella, 17. Griffith has also asked for spousal support.
On Thursday night, Griffith attended an AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony, honoring Jane Fonda, without Banderas. She was still wearing her wedding rings.
The longtime couple have dodged breakup rumors for more than a year. In 2013, tabloid reports linked Banderas to affairs with two women during trips to Cancun and Cannes. At the time, sources claimed the pair’s $50 million fortune would be difficult to divvy up.
The marriage was Melanie’s fourth and Antonio’s second. The star was twice married twice to Miami Vice actor Don Johnson and was previously wed to Steve Bauer.
