We wish Spencer Pratt would select on psychotic mood and stick with it. The universally-disliked star of The Hills now says he was lying when he told Lauren Conrad he started the rumors that she had starred in a private sex tape with former boyfriend Jason Wahler— and he did it just to get LC to come to his wedding.

A press conference promoting the fifth season of The Hills last month, Lauren told a panel of fans and reporters that Spencer finally took responsibility for starting the sex tape gossip, but in a new interview with Access Hollywood, Spencer claims that he only told Lauren he started the rumor to fulfill his wife, Heidi Montag, wish of having her former bestie at her wedding.

“Let me give you the exclusive right here… See, my lovely wife wanted that girl, LC, to be at our wedding, and I knew I had to do whatever as [an] almost-husband to get her dream wedding put together,” Spencer told newsmagazine earlier this week. “So I lied and said that I made something up to make somebody feel good about themselves so that they would attend the wedding.”

“That’s what a husband should do for a wife… Do anything at all costs to make them have their dream wedding,” he added. Although he says he had nothing to do with leaking the rumors to the press, Spencer insists that Lauren did, in fact, make a sex tape with Wahler several years ago. “….Yes, you did have that tape and yes, [your ex-boyfriend] was trying to sell it. Thank you for coming to the wedding. Love ya. Mwah!”
