In an interview with The TODAY Show’s Al Roker on Monday, newlyweds Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag — of MTV’s The Hills – responded to public backlash surrounding their controversial tenure on the NBC summer reality series I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out Of Here.

“I’m not ashamed,” Heidi replied in response to Al’s grilling. But apparently reality television’s most hated couple walked away a little disappointed with the “way they were treated.”

“I’m still trying to figure out, was the weatherman asking us questions? I thought we were getting interviewed by Matt Lauer or something,” Spencer complained in a post-interview chat with On-Air With Ryan Seacrest. “Next thing you know, I’ve got the guy that tells me if it’s rainy or sunny trying to ask me questions. So we were thrown off that the weatherman was even trying to talk to Speidi….”

Heidi added, “I was shocked at how rude he was – I was crying afterwards because I couldn’t believe I felt personally attacked. I wanted to say to him, do you feel proud of how you’re talking to me right now? I’m just a young woman and you’re coming at me so aggressively and meanly and mean-spirited. I really would advise women especially to be careful around him because I feel like he definitely came and attacked me and I did not appreciate that at all.”

“To be honest, I would never be interviewed by that man again…”

And it appears the feeling is mutual — Al can’t stand Speidi either!

“Heidi and Spencer are an interesting couple. famous for…being infamous,” he Tweeted after the interview. “Bad and vacuous behavior. I think we’re at minute 11 of their 15.”

Do you think Al Roker was out of line?

surprisingly, i do feel that al was slightly out of line. i didn’t expect him to be so rude. heidi and spencer are definitely reality star snobs who we all love to hate, but al came across as if he had some kind of personal grudge against them that didn’t make sense…. where i expected AL to roll his eyes at the nonsense, instead HE seemed insistent on being the jerk.

It’s a strange interview because Al Roker keeps implying that the contestants did something terrible which they should be ashamed of, but doesn’t make clear what.

I don’t think he was a jerk at all. I think we’re all just used to such softcore journalism and kiss ass BS that we can’t stand to hear a real question being asked.

Yes, I think Al Roker was a jerk. He was very unprofessional and trying to act like Matt Lauer. They are both jerks when they interview people. It was an uncomfortable interview to watch. I never watch the Today Show anyway. I think that Heidi and Spencer both reacted to Al’s rudeness in a very calm and professional and in control manner. Heidi and Spencer are appealing and entertaining and will become very successful. I think that Al was being racially bias because of the clip was of Spencer fighting with a black woman.

Oh please. The deserve it totally. They are both idiots. I think Mrs Martinez above is Spencer because her arguement is silly much like everything else that comes out of these twos mouths. Things are only going to get worse for them because tides turn and people who tolerated them are now getting really sick of them.

I watched it on MTV… but I knew he’d do something slightly similar to that. ‘
I don’t know why everyone’s so suprised of thier behavior though… i mean what’d you expect from Speidi?
But anyways… yeah I do think Al was sorta trying to smudge thier behavior in thier faces. Tsk Tsk

” No but in that show I’m the villain, in life I wanna be a hero.”

I think if anyone is a jerk, it’s arrogant Shane. Yeah, they both sounded like they did a lot of research about the tabloids and mainly Shane sounded like he rehearsed…if he asks me about this, then I am going to come back with this….he sounded like an idiot. Al was right to go at them both like that and he actually had the balls to do it. Heidi says she’s a modern Mother Theresa? WTF? Which mother Theresa is she talking of? Does she have Mother Theresa mixed up with Jenna Jameson? The whore.

Arrogance never got anybody anywhere and they acted lke dummies, Al treated them the way they wanted to be treated. He was sharp about his questions and I think that if the producers were worried about what he was going to ask and what they wanted him to ask, then they would have stopped him ahead of time and told him to stick to these certain topics.

I think that Shane and Heidi deserve eachother and they’re going to fall as quickly as they got up there….they belong on the D List…because they are D-scusting..

While I don’t appreciate the type of behavior that “Speidi” is known for, I have to say Al could’ve been more professional with this interview. It did sound like he had some sort of personal vendetta against them. He should’ve just asked the questions, and let them respond, without interrupting or assuming. And I hate to say it, but based on the way the media depicts these two, I was surprised to see them defend themselves in such a calm and articulate manner.
