Spelling to get a tribute

Aaron Spelling is going to get a tribute at this year’s Emmy Awards. This will be the first Aaron Spelling nod at the Emmys since 1994, when he won an award for the TV movie “And the Band Played On.” Previous to that, he had nods for “Dynasty,” “Family” and “The Mod Squad.”
But this means he never got an Emmy for “Saved by the Bell.” Or “7th Heaven.” Or “Charmed.” Or “Beverly Hills 90210.” Or even “T.J. Hooker.” In some ways, that’s strange to people of my generation considering that all those shows, “T.J. Hooker” aside, were some kind of staple of our childhood and adolescence.
But hey, I’ll be happy if the tribute includes scenes from the episode of “Saved by the Bell” where Jessie gets hooked on diet pills, or at least the one where Zach, Screech and Slater find a joint in the restroom.
(insert Tori Spelling joke here)

I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. Aaron Spelling had absolutely nothing to do with “Saved by the Bell.” His daughter played the character of Violet Anne Bickerstaff, one of Screech’s love interests, but that’s it.
