Ever wanted to be a Fly-on-the-Wall behind the scenes of your favorite daytime drama? Here’s your chance! Well, sorta….
Paramount has commissioned a remake of Soapdish, its popular 1991 ensemble comedy “which chronicled the behind the scenes at a daytime soap.” With the help of produced Alan Greisman, who also produced the original, and screenwriter Rob Reiner, the studio plans to roll out a reboot of the box office hit sometime next year, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The original film, directed by Michael Hoffman, tells the hilarious backstage story of the cast and crew of a popular fictional television soap opera. It stars Sally Field (Celeste) as an aging soap star, joined by Kevin Kline (Jeffrey), Robert Downey, Jr.(David), Cathy Moriarty as Montana, Elisabeth Shue (Lori), with Teri Hatcher, Carrie Fisher, and Whoopi Goldberg in side-splitting supporting roles.
