“So You Think You Can Dance” Choreographer Alex DaSilva Arrested For Sexual Assault
Alex DaSilva, dance instructor and choreographer featured on the TV reality series So You Think You Can Dance has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
DaSilva won the World Salsa Dancing Championships in 2002 and 2007. He also choreographs and performs for the FOX summer reality series and teaches at the Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood and the Mayan Club in downtown Los Angeles.
The 41-year-old was taken into custody on Saturday for four alleged sexual assaults occuring between May 2003 and March 28, 2009, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman over the weekend. Each of the victims were students of DaSilva at the time of the alleged assaults.
The female accusers told police that DaSilva lured them to his homes in North Hollywood and Van Nuys and then used a ruse to get them into his bedroom where he raped them.
Bail has been set at $3.8 million.
