The American Kennel Club named Snoopy the Top Dog in Pop Culture as part of the organization’s 125th anniversary celebration on Tuesday. Nearly 76,000 online voters chose their favorites from a list of pop culture dogs drawn from television, film, literature, sports and art, the kennel club said.

Charlie Brown’s beloved Beagle from Charles Schulz’s iconic comic strip successfully edged out Texas A&M University’s mascot Reveille for the top spot. Scooby Doo rounded out the Top 3. Also making appearances on the AKC list was Georgetown University’s Jack the Bulldog, Pound Puppies, children’s literature character Clifford The Big Red Dog, and the Baha Men’s 2000 hit “Who Let The Dogs Out.”

Peanuts — often regarded one of the most influential comics in history — debuted in 1955 and appeared in 2,600 newspapers in 21 languages before Schulz’s death in February 2000. Its daily readership was believed to be the largest of any comic strip in history.
