Snoop Pleads Not Guilty To Weapons Charge

Snoop Dogg pleaded Not Guilty to a felony count of Knowingly Possessing A Dangerous Weapon.
The Orange County, California charge stems from a September 27th arrest in which the rapper, born Calvin Broadus, was caught trying to board a plane at Santa Ana’s John Wayne Airport with a twenty-inch baton tucked in a computer bag.
“The reason we’re pursuing this as a felony is because of Mr. Broadus’s criminal history, and his apparent and continued disregard for the law,” said Orange County District Attorney spokeswoman Susan Schroeder.
S.D’s lawyer Donald Etra talked to People Mag shortly after entering the plea: “Snoop’s not guilty plea says it all. The item he’s charged with was a movie prop, not a weapon. Snoop never intended it to be used as anything other than a prop.”
The thirty-five year old rapper has another hearing on this case on April 5th. Snoop has one other case pending, this one in Los Angeles.
On Oct. 26, he was arrested in Burbank, Calif., at Bob Hope Airport after police found a handgun and marijuana in his car. He is on $35,000 bond.
