Snooki “The Wendy Williams Show” VIDEO [Dec. 11]
Everybody’s Favorite “Guidette,” Snooki (or Snookie, as some folks like to spell it), fugged it up with Daytime’s Favorite Drama Queen on The Wendy Williams Show Friday.
The Jersey Shore star — who gets sucker-punched by a teacher on the show’s upcoming third eppy — blabbed to Wendy about the growing controversy surrounding the show. The series follows eight twenty-somethings living together in a rented beach house in Seaside Heights, N.J and has gotten widespread attention — much of it negative — since premiering earlier this month. The ruckus is caused in part by objections from Italian-Americans, who say the program and its cast of “Bimbos and Buffoons” portrays their culture in a negative light. UNICO National, the nation’s largest Italian American service organization, is particularly pissed about Jersey Shore, and has called for a viewer and advertiser boycott of the show.
Well, Snooki will have none of that:
“The Italian, whatever, national, whatever their organization is, they don’t understand that ‘guidos’ and ‘guidettes’ are good-looking people that, you know, like to make a scene and be center of attention and just take care of themselves. They are old-fashioned. They don’t know that; they think it’s offensive, because maybe in their time it was offensive, but now it’s kind of a compliment. So they don’t understand that and that is what we are trying to say. They are way overreacting to the show. We’re 22 to 29 just having fun at the shore. They are just taking it way out of proportion.”
Jersey Shore nabbed 2.1 million viewers on Thursday night, a big boost from the 1.3 million viewers that tuned in for the show’s debut the week before.
