Simon Cowell Slams Sting
Simon Cowell has hit back at rock legend Sting for dissing the music mogul’s reality singing contests as “televised karaoke.”
Last November, the former Police frontman blasted Cowell, claiming the acid-tongued Brit was exploiting talentless wannabees, who are then “humiliated” in a bid to boost television ratings on “preposterous” shows like American Idol and The X Factor.
“The X Factor is a preposterous show and you have judges who have no recognizable talent apart from self-promotion, advising them (contestants) what to wear and how to look. It is appalling,” Sting said at the time.
Well, Simon isn’t taking that laying down.
“First of all, anybody who at the age of 60 calls himself Sting is an idiot,” Simon spat in an interview with X Factor co-star Piers Morgan over the weekend. “I find those kind of people… who come from quite humble beginnings and they’re (now) living in these stately homes, professing to know everything about everything in the world, and what the contestants may or may not feel… They can say that because they’ve got everything they want in their lives, but what they’re really saying is anybody else who needs a shot shouldn’t be allowed to do it.”

I'm with Simon, some celebrities think they were born to be celebrities, forgetting that they were once a struggling musician or artist, begging for a shot to be recognized. Good one Simon…

Sting is right in my opinion, but a comment like that spoken anywhere other than private, obviously would pick up some controversy. The American public, and all public for that matter, is naturally of an “average” intellect and easily amused. Sting is very original, and worthy of his fame to the nth degree. Collectively, look at all of the music that has come out of American Idol..from the winners that is. I rest my case.

If one were to carefully go over Sir Gordon Summoner’s (Sting)statement, one would realize that he is NOT discouraging young talent. He is only questioning the exploitative format which claims to be testing grounds for talent. So Mr. Cowell’s rebuttal here seems more like a reaction than a response.

If Simon thinks Sting's such "an idiot," why did he license "Every Breath You Take" for Am. idol?
Can you name one hit song that Simon had ANYTHING to do with?
