He’s just two days in, but it seems fatherhood’s already turned Mr. Nasty into a big ole softie.
Simon Cowell and girlfriend Lauren Silverman welcomed a son, Eric Phillip, on Valentine’s Day and the new parents wasted no time inundating social media with snapshots of the tot. “I never knew how much love and pride I would feel,” Simon Cowell wrote on Twitter Sunday, beneath a photo of him cradling a sleeping Eric.
Fatherhood comes after many years of Simon, 54, proclaiming he was “too selfish” to become a parent. That all changed last year: Silverman, a 36-year-old Manhattan socialite became pregnant despite being married to real estate mogul Andrew Silverman, Simon’s former friend.
Despite the sordid details, snitches say the X Factor boss was very emotional after Eric’s arrival. An insider told the Sunday Mirror newspaper:
“He is such a proud dad and they are completely obsessed. It was an incredible and emotional day for them both. Simon was amazing and was by Lauren’s side the entire time. There were very happy tears from everyone, including Simon.”
It is said the baby’s name is a tribute not only to Simon’s late father, Eric Philip, but also Cowell’s mentor, Topshop boss Sir Philip Green.
