Drah-mah! Acid-tongued talent show boss Simon Cowell is incensed that NBC is pitting the latest season of its reality singing competition The Voice against the world premiere of the second season of The X Factor.
After a controversial first season, Factor will return to the tube on Wednesday, Sept. 11. But Cowel is angered by Peacock brass’ decision to schedule an episode of their singing contest against the hotly-awaited premiere.
In fact, Mr. Nasty has taken the decision personally, claiming The Voice is jealous of The X Factor’s new judging panel. Simon fumed to TMZ on Wednesday:
“These guys have really got it in for us. It’s nothing short of dirty tricks. This is a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional way of doing business. The reason they’ve done this is they don’t want people to see X Factor because they’ve heard how good the series is. They don’t want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don’t want their audience to see Demi Lovato.”
Cowell continued his rant by speculating that Spears will also be vexed by the network’s move — which he argues could reignite her long-standing feud with fellow former Mouseketeer Christina Aguilera, a judge on The Voice.
“Britney’s going to be devastated because she’s put her heart and soul into this. She’s not going to appreciate the fact that Christina — who has been a bit of a rival — isn’t allowing Britney to have a night of her own.”
