Showtime Picks Up ‘Billions’ Featuring Damian Lewis And Paul Giamatti
Showtime surely just picked up its next hit show with the series order of Billions, a drama featuring a couple of big time stars. The show will star Paul Giamatti and also see the return of Damian Lewis to the network.
Showtime may not get the attention that HBO does, but it has been responsible for several award-nominated and fan-favorite shows as well including Homeland and Shameless in recent years.
The new show has been given a 12-episode series order and will definitely be worth checking out. The series will revolve around the politics and power in the world of Wall Street and New York investment firms.
Billions will feature Paul Giamatti in the role of a hard-driving U.S. attorney who clashes with a hedge fund titan played by Lewis. Billions already has the promise of being a hit with Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile and Condola Rashad all attached to co-star in the series.
Showtime’s Billions was created by screenwriters Brian Koppelman and David Levien and author/New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin, who will all exec produce.

Damian Lewis is known to fans of Homeland, which also aired on Showtime and following his dramatic exit from the show two seasons ago, he will look to have success in another show on the network. Giamatti has never been in a TV series before, but he is of course known for his numerous films including Sideways and Cinderella Man.
In addition to Billions, the Cameron Crowe-J.J. Abrams collaboration Roadies is still be waiting to be picked up, and why that has not been ordered to series yet is certainly a mystery. The revival of Twin Peaks is also set to air on Showtime in 2016.
