Michael Jace: It isn’t exactly a household name, but it’s one that just became very familiar to investigators in the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD); they suspect the actor behind the moniker of killing his wife.
Jace, 48, appeared as LAPD Detective (How’s that for irony?) Julien Lowe in 89 episodes of the now-defunct FX series The Shield. He also played NBA legend Michael Jordan in a made-for-TV biopic and enjoyed small roles in NYPD Blue, Forrest Gump and Southland. In a plot seemingly ripped straight from the script of a television cop procedural, the star was booked early Tuesday on one count of homicide.
Local authorities say Mr. Jace shot his wife of nine years, April Jace, 40, in the couple’s Hyde Park home just before 8:30 p.m. on Monday evening. He later called 911 to report the death.
The Jaces are the parents of two sons under 10. Both children were in the home at the time of the shooting, but the LAPD has not confirmed whether they witnessed the shooting.
