Shia LaBeouf’s driver’s license has been suspended for one year as a result of his highly-publicized July 2008 car crash.

The suspension, which took effect January 17, 2009, is the result of the Transformers star’s refusal to take a breathalyzer test at the scene of the accident, according to the Los Angeles Department of Motor Vehicles.

Shia was arrested for suspicion of DUI after showing “physical signs” of being intoxicated when his Ford F150 pickup collided with another vehicle on the Hollywood strip. Ironically, the actor was later cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to the collision.

In September, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced there was “insufficient evidence” to charge Shia with drunken driving for his involvement in the accident, which left his hand severely injured.
