Just five days before trying to break onto the Dancing With the Stars set with kidnapping gear and several loaded firearms, accused Shawn Johnson stalker Robert O’Ryan was stopped by police in Alabama– -and released. In an interview captured on a policeman’s dash camera on March 19, the troubled man can be heard talking about the gymnast with officers.

When questioned about where he was headed, Robert replied, “California,” where he said was going to see meet the 17-year-old star, according to WKRG News in Pensacola, Florida. Robert can be heard saying of Shawn, “I’m meeting with her. I’ve been communicating with her … Basically, I’m gonna try to get her to marry me.”

The man’s behavior raised no red flags with Loxley Police–or maybe they just didn’t know who the Olympic gold medalist was-because the officers sent Robert on his way with only a ticket for driving with an expired license and driving without an insurance.

On March 24, Robert O’Ryan was charged with one felony count of stalking and two misdemeanor counts of carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle after he was caught searching for Shawn on the set of ABC’s DWTS.
