Looks like that petition to bring “Brenda Walsh” back to West Beverly Hills High paid off, after all. According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly’s resident TV snitch Michael Ausiello, head honchos at The CW are in formal talks to add actress Shannen Doherty to the cast of the network’s new Beverly Hill, 90210 spinoff, scheduled for a September 2008 premiere.

Shannen, as you may recall, was ousted from the original cast of 90210 by Mr. Aaron Spelling himself after she tormented her co-stars and raised all kinds of diva Hell on the set of the classic FOX soap.

Michael says:
According to my Peach Pit mole, Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, the producers behind el nuevo 90210, recently met with the tempestuous tabloid mainstay to gauge her interest in returning to the zip code from which she was banished in 1994. And by all accounts, she is interested. “But,” whispers an insider with close ties to the reboot, “she wants to know what the story is going to be first.”

Shannen will have a lot of company if she returns to the show that made her a 90s pop culture icon; fellow 90210 alums Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling have already signed on to appear on the new CW series.
