Senator Ted Kennedy Inauguration Seizure Collapse
Massachusetts Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy collapsed at a luncheon honoring President Barack Obama on Tuesday. He was wheeled out of the Capitol on a stretcher and rushed to nearby Washington Hospital Center, where it was determined that the 76-year-old senator had suffered a seizure.
Senator Kennedy was diagnosed with a brain tumor last May.
Dr. Edward Aulisi, Chairman of Neurosurgery at Washington Hospital Center, has released this statement:
“Senator Edward Kennedy experienced a seizure today while attending a luncheon for President Barack Obama in the U.S. Capitol. After testing, we believe the incident was brought on by simple fatigue. Senator Kennedy is awake, talking with family and friends, and feeling well. He will remain at the Washington Hospital Center overnight for observation, and will be released in the morning.”
