The cute-as-a-button Selena Gomez has turned her back on the virtual — because hateful comments from Interwebbers left the Disney star devastated.
The Wizards of Waverly Place star, 17, used to regularly film videos with bestie Demi Lovato to share with her fans on YouTube.com, but has stopped uploading the funny clips in recent months because she came across so many hurtful messages.
“I’ve given up the internet. I don’t read comments, and I don’t go on any of the sites anymore, and I just feel better. And it’s not about being a celebrity – you get on MySpace, Facebook, there’s all these different outlets where people can just feel like nobody’s watching them so they can just say whatever they want to say, and that gets dangerous sometimes.”
