Sela Ward is headed to The Big Apple: On Tuesday, CBS chiefs introduced the Golden Globe-winning actress as the newest cast member of the network’s forensic crime procedural, CSI: NY.
“We are delighted to have Sela joining ‘CSI: NY,'” said series executive producer Pam Veasey. “With the exciting stories planned for Season 7, she’ll be a dynamic addition to the cast and the team.”
Sela will play an experienced investigator from Washington, DC whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim, the network said in a statement. The character will join the NYPD as a new partner for Gary Sinise’s Det. Mac Taylor. Ward — who is replacing departing star Melina Kanakaredes — is set to make her first appearance in the show’s Season 7 premiere, airing this fall. Production starts July 28.
“I am thrilled to be working with Gary (Sinise) and this terrific group of people,” Ward added. “I’m a huge fan.”
Ward landed a pair of Best Actress Emmy for her roles on the network dramas Sisters and Once and Again. Her other television credits include a recurring role on House, Suburban Madness, and Almost Golden: The Jessica Savitch Story.
