Sean Penn Taking Break From Acting, Drops Out Of Two Films

Sean Penn has backed out of scheduled appearances in The Three Stooges and the crime thriller Cartel, a rep for the actor confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Oscar-winning actor has dropped out of the projects to take a break from his career and focus on his family. There was no word on how long the actor’s Hollywood hiatus might last.

“We indeed informed both productions that Sean was not available now,” a rep for Sean said in a statement Tuesday. “If for whatever reason the start dates on these productions were to be postponed, Sean would happily remain involved.”

The news comes nearly two months after Penn filed for legal separation and reconciled with his wife of 13 years, Robin Wright Penn.

Sean Penn won the Best Actor Academy Award for his work in the 2008 film Milk.
