Sean Penn stars as gay-rights icon Harvey Milk in the upcoming biopic Milk, opening in theaters later this year.

The San Francisco councilmember was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America, before the activist and the city’s mayor George Moscone were shot to death by city supervisor, Dan White.

Dan later used the now-infamous “Twinkie Defense” to explain the ambush.

Milk will feature a guy on guy liplock between Penn and Spiderman hottie James Franco. (In case you’re into that kind of thing.)
