Scarlett Johansson Terrorized Robert Redford On The Set Of “The Horse Whisperer”
Scarlett Johansson and director Robert Redford bumped heads regularly on the set of their 1998 film The Horse Whisperer because the mouthy then-13-year-old star frustrated the screen legend to no end.
Based on the 1995 novel by Nicholas Evans, The Horse Whisperer featured Redford in the title role, as talented trainer with a remarkable gift for understanding horses. He us hired to help a traumatized (played by Scarlett Johansson) and her horse back to health following a tragic accident.
In upcoming book Robert Redford: The Biography, a crew member from the movie claims the Lost In Translation star would constantly interpret her scenes against Redford’s own vision — making it difficult to work with the burgeoning young star.
The book also alleges Johansson’s overbearing stage mom influenced Scarlett’s unwelcome assertiveness, causing her to constantly talk back to the director and leading to “friction” between the pair on set.
