Hollywood actresses Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway are being courted for the lead role in an upcoming remake of the 1935 horror film The Bride of Frankenstein.

Both Scarlett, the 24-year-old blonde bombshell, and Anne, the former Disney star turned Oscar-nominated actress, are in the running to portray a sexier version of the wild-haired female monster in an updated version of the motion picture classic, The NY Post reported Thursday.

The film sequel to Frankenstein – which sees Dr. Frankenstein bring a “human” life from separate body parts – featured the doctor creating a partner for his creation. However, when Dr. Frankenstein brings the bride to life, she rejects his monster.

The bride was originally played by English actress Elsa Lanchester.

“The Bride of Frankenstein will be young this time. They’re looking for a person with great power and sex appeal. Someone along the lines of Scarlett Johansson or Anne Hathaway.”
