Live from New York since 1975 Saturday Night Live kicks off their 40th anniversary with an incredible host of stars making it the most star-studded show ever!

The show begins with Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon performing a song and dance routine; then Steve Martin steps out for the first monologue of the night with guest appearances ranging from Miley Cyrus to Tom Hanks. The show aired the auditions of famous former cast members and including the audition videos of those that did not make the show. Jack Nicholson showed up which was an added surprise since he had never hosted the show before. Californians sketch which is an SNL type soap opera included appearances from Taylor Swift, Bradley Cooper and Betty White. During the skit Betty White and Bradley Cooper made out as Taylor Swift looked on. That was not the only awkward scene from the nights show, Eddie Murphy’s highly-anticipated appearance after a 30 year absence was meet with extreme disappointment after he gave an awkward speech.
Following a 4 minute introduction from Chris Rock, Murphy enters the stage to a standing ovation to say, “Hey, isn’t this an incredible night, this night?. “This show is such a big part of who I am and my life. And I’m so happy to be back here. It’s a magical feeling. Actually it feels like going back to my old high school, kind of. It’s a good feeling. I’m really happy that so many people here value the stuff that I did 35 years ago. It makes me feel really happy. I will always love this show and.. let’s have some more show. Let’s have a big round of applause for everybody.” When the monitors failed to cut to a commercial or another montage, Murphy froze.
The incredible star studded night also featured several musical acts such as Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Cyrus and Kanye West to name a few. Lorne Michaels who is the shows creator was brought on stage by Martin during the farewell.
