Sasha & Malia Obama First Day Of School At Sidwell Friends (Pictures)
President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama got future First Daughters Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10, ready for their first day of school in Washington, on Monday, Jan. 5. The young ladies will attend Upper Northwest’ siddity Sidwell Friends School, the alma mater of former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton.

Sasha is in second grade and attending the elementary school campus in Bethesda, Maryland. Big sister Malia, a fifth grader, will attend Sidwell Friends’ middle school campus in Washington.

“A number of great schools were considered,” Katie McCormick Lelyveld, a spokeswoman for Michelle Obama, said of the decision for the girls to attend Sidwell. “In the end, the Obamas selected the school that was the best fit for what their daughters need right now.”
I moved around a lot growing up, so I know starting a new school in the middle of the term can be pretty tough. Let’s hope the girls adjust quickly.
