Ryan Seacrest Paula Abdul Remember Alexis Cohen
American Idol stars Ryan Seacrest and Paula Abdul paid tribute to one-time Idol hopeful Alexis Cohen in messages on their respective Twitter pages Monday. Cohen died early Saturday after she was struck in a hit-and-run accident in Seaside Heights, NJ.
Alexis Cohen, or “Glitter Girl” as she was affectionately called, auditioned for Idol in 2007 and 2008. She is perhaps best remembered for the Internet viral video of her tirade after being rejected by judges during the show’s seventh season.
Police have arrested Daniel Bark in connection with Cohen’s death. Bark appeared in state Superior Court were he was arraigned on charges of aggravated manslaughter and drunken driving. He is being held on $35,000 bond.
Prosecutors say the 25-year-old was run down by an out-of-control 2005 Mitsubishi Gallant driven by the 23-year-old Tom’s River man. Alexis was pronounced dead at a local hospital after suffering chest, head, and abdominal injuries.
Writing on her Twitter account Monday, Abdul said: “My heart goes out to the family of Alexis Cohen – she showed great courage at Idol and let’s all send our prayers to her family now.”
Idol host Seacrest added on his own Twitter blog: “My thoughts are with the Cohen family. It is such a sad story. She auditioned for the producers for this season and then the terrible news.”
