That was the most uncomfortable attempt at a save I've seem on prime time TV in a long while. I'm sure Ryan has warm feelings for the producers for leaving that bit in the show. Ryan still is a perfect personality for that position in the show and it is great entertainment to see him react humanly every once in a while.By the way, the blind singer has a decent voice.
