Ryan Reynolds, like every X-Men fan out there, would love to see more of Hugh Jackman in the role of Wolverine. While he would not have a major role in the standalone Deadpool movie, there seems to be a chance that he could show up at some point.

The Deadpool movie is one that has been in limbo for a while, and while it didn’t seem likely for a while, it is now less than a year from its release date.

The characters of Deadpool and Wolverine have intertwining origin stories in the comics, which allows for them to work together in the film and Deadpool was first seen on screen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, released in 2009.

Ryan Reynolds should get fans excited in the role of Deadpool and he hopes to be joined by his friend Hugh Jackman in the process. The two comic book actors met on the set of the 2009 film and have been friends ever since, despite their characters’ fighting on screen.

When asked if there was a possibility of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine making an appearance in the Deadpool movie, Reynolds said, “God I hope so, that would be really nice. I dunno, we’ll see. It seems like he’s open to it, but it’s gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else.”

As most fans of the X-Men franchise are well aware, Jackman has announced that he would retire from the role multiple times already, but he has assured fans that his appearance in The Wolverine 3 will be his last time playing the character in a standalone film.

However, that doesn’t mean that he can’t appear in small roles of other comic book characters’ films. He most recently played Wolverine in X-Men: Days Of Future Past and it is also rumored that he might be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Ryan Reynolds will be seen in the role of Deadpool when it is released to theaters on February 12th, 2016. The movie tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool.
