Twenty-seven years after they first started dating, Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett are getting married.

“I’ve asked her to marry me again, and she’s agreed,” the 68-year-old star revealed in an interview with ABC’s Barbara Walters, set to air this Friday
.
The former Charlie’s Angels star, 62, is presently in the fight of her life against an aggressive form of inoperable anal cancer.

“We will, as soon as she can, say yes. Maybe we can just nod her head,” he said, with a laugh. “I promise you, we will. Absolutely.”

“I used to ask her to marry me all the time,” O’Neal said for the interview on 20/20. “But … it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it.”

Farrah and Ryan first began dating in 1982, after her marriage to fellow actor Lee Majors crumbled. They split in 1997, but got back together four years later after Ryan was diagnosed with leukemia.

The couple has one son together – 24-year-old Redmond O’Neal, who is currently in rehab following his third drug arrest.
