After more than 40 years, Rudolph is still showing these witches how to steal a show. The shiny-nosed reindeer proved the biggest draw on TV last night as the 1964 holiday special Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer best the 2010 Grammy nominations ceremony and New York City’s annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree-Lighting Special.

According to CBS, the classic tale — about a tormented creature who triumphs against adversity to become the lead reindeer on Santa’s sleigh — attracted 10.7 million viewers during its broadcast on Wednesday night. Narrated by Burl Ives, the one-hour Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer has been broadcast every year since 1964, making it one of the longest-running Christmas specials on American television.
