Controversial funny guy Robert Schimmel — best known for his appearance on The Howard Stern Show — is in a “very serious” condition in a Phoenix hospital following a car accident last week, TMZ.com reported late Saturday.

The comic was traveling with his 19-year-old daughter — who was driving at the time of the accident — and his 11-year-old son when the family’s vehicle veered off an Arizona freeway on Thursday.

The younger Schimmels are expected to make a full recovery.
