Robert Pattinson has admitted that the only reason he auditioned for Twilight in the first place was because he had a crush on the film’s female lead, actress Kristen Stewart.

The vampire heartthrob — who is constantly battling rumors that he is dating/knocking up his on-screen co-star — says he barely knew what the Twilight book series was at the time, and he only went along to the audition so he could get up close with the real-life Kristen.

“I read the script of Twilight and I barely knew that they were books too, so I had no idea what I was letting myself in for,” Robert says. “The only reason I went to the audition was to see Kristen because I had just seen Into the Wild. Of course I had a little crush on her.”

The more I read about these two, the more disappointed I get. So, you liked the chick in another movie, have the stones to acquaint yourself with her on your own personal time. I think Stephenie Meyer should have had the final say in the lead casting for these movies.

I think there is nothing wrong with that, most actors like to know who they are working with, b/c sometimes the chemistry works and other times it doesn't. It happened with Brad & Angie, he had been wanting to work with her before they got together, he said it in an interview.

Uh, there is nothing wrong with the fact that he went to the audition to meet Kristen. He obviously does not think enough of himself to audition for a part that was literally described as being a perfect, gorgeous, ideal man, and has said so. I'm sure plenty of actors participate (or not) based on who else is involved, and why should anyone blame them? I think it's cute that RP did that, and while the movies are not spectacular, the chemistry the two of them share certainly is and it makes a difference. He obviously made the right judgment call, especially since they're together now in real life.
