Robert Hegyes “Welcome Back Kotter” fame dead at 60

Robert Hegyes, more commonly known for the role he portrayed on Welcome Back Kotter” of Juan Epstein, has died.

The actor suffered an apparent heart-attack at his New Jersey home on Thursday morning, he was just 60 years old. Known for his role as Juan, Hegyes also appeared in the 80s police show Cagney & Lacey and taught college classes at his alma-mater of Rowan University. Hegyes appeared in all 4 seasons of Welcome Back Kotter, portraying one of the remedial “Sweathogs” and appeared with most of the cast in 2011, when they were honored at the TVLand awards.

Hegyes survived by three siblings, two children and two step-children.
