What could be one of the most risqué red carpet appearances ever has raised questions about Rihanna’s modesty…and her workout regimen!
The Bajan pop tart strutted the red carpet at Monday’s CFDA Fashion Awards (aka “The Fashion Oscars”) in a gold, mesh gown. And let us tell ya, it didn’t require a whole lotta imagination to guess what was underneath.
Particularly, since the hot little number, amassed of more than 230,000 Swarovski crystals, was translucent.
RiRi was on hand to accept the coveted Fashion Icon of the Year gong, but it was her other…er…notable contributions to pop culture (like the full frontal nip slips that bring all new meaning to the expression “shine bright like a diamond”) that were the night’s main event. Cheeky shots of Ri’s Pilates (or yoga, perhaps?) body are all par for the course for style guy Mel Ottenberg, who’s been dressing Rihanna for concerts and public appearances since 2011.
After all, we’re talking about the same woman who was almost banned for uploading topless photos of herself to her Instagram feed.
“I don’t know if it’s shocking — I’m with her all the time, so my shock gauge is off, but I told her that I thought she was ready for this dress a while ago and that I wasn’t. I’m the prude and I’m just catching up.”
Ottenberg teamed up with his designer beau Adam Selman to create the jaw-dropping gown. While the Roaring ’20s era, Flapper-esque ensemble quickly became the talk of Twitter, Ottenberg tells Style.com the design team was inspired by the simple desire to make Rihanna look fun and flirty.
“I did this look for her so she’d have a good time. This was the perfect night do to something fun, and I wanted her to have something great that you couldn’t find anywhere else in the world.”
