Friends of pop star Rihanna have placed a birthday greeting for the singer in the local newspaper.

According to Us Weekly, four pals of the “Umbrella,” who turns 21 today, sent the embattled star their well wishes through a public posting in Barbados’ Nation News.

“Happy 21st birthday to Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Amidst all the negativity about Ri Ri, God will continue to bless her. That’s why you are so great Ri Ri.”

The message is signed by “Sharon, Shane, Kim and Rashane” and concludes with the words “We love you.”
