Report: Pink in Line to Replace Britney Spears on “The X Factor”
Pink attempted to distance herself from pop counterpart Britney Spears in the lyrics to her 2002 smash “Don’t Let Me Get Me,” but the outspoken vocalist could be on course to follow in the famous blonde’s footsteps after reportedly entering talks to replace Spears on the forthcoming third season of The X Factor.
If Britain’s Daily Star is to be believed, the wife/mom/CoverGirl spokesgal is being considered for a role on the show’s judging panel, joining Demi Lovato and series producer Simon Cowell. The move would be a change for Pink, who has reportedly turned down offers from a host of reality singing competitions, including American Idol and The Voice.
The “There You Go” star, 33, is revered among fans for her loose lips, but she fears such flippancy wouldn’t be nearly as well received on live TV.
“I was offered The Voice in Australia plus American Idol and The X Factor. I said no because you can’t be honest. People will hate you if you’re honest. Simon Cowell is the only person who gets away with it because he’s got an accent. And he’s a man. People would just hate me more than they already do. I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings. Besides, you can sing karaoke anywhere.”
Fun fact: Pink’s former mentor, music mogul L.A. Reid, departed the Factor cast at the end of the show’s second season.
Who wants to see Pink trades barbs with Sir Cowell on the next edition of The X Factor?
