Chelsea Handler is taking the laughs to Netflix — that’s the word from The New York Post, anyway.
Handler’s made no secret of her dissatisfaction with E!, the network where she’s hosted the late-night series Chelsea Lately since 2007. She’s so ovah E!, in fact, that she’s been publicly taking meetings months ahead of her scheduled contract expiration date in December 2014.
Now, a new report from The New York Post indicates that Chels may have already found a new home at Netflix. A tipster tells The Post that Handler has reached a deal with the network that already airs small screen smashes, House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. The format, however, is still being decided. Meanwhile, Variety cites sources, who describe Chelsea’s move to Netflix is as good as a “done deal.”
Handler made headlines during a recent Howard Stern interview after describing E! as “a sad, sad place to live… They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.” During that interview, Handler did single out Netflix as a possible next step.
No official word just yet.
