Television talent shows have gone country…
Word on the curb has it that pop princess Britney Spears will bring the backwoods of Louisiana to primetime TV when she makes her debut as the latest addition to The X Factor judging panel in September.
A loose-lipped Spears camp snitch tells E! News that the 30-year-old has hashed out a deal worth $15 million that will reportedly see her joining showrunner Simon Cowell and music mogul L.A. Reid as a mentor on the Fox singing show. With former Factor pundits Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger out, Brit has spent the past five months in serious discussions about jumping onto the second season of the struggling series — which has failed to draw the mega-ratings of singing show challengers like American Idol and The Voice.
Britney is said to be “excited” about working with the acid-tongued Cowell. The E! insider says:
“The contract is signed. There’s been a lot of back and forth over the past few weeks as they negotiated the small details, but she’s on. It’s all completed and Britney is beyond excited. She’s ready for this. She can’t wait to sit down next to Simon at the judges’ table and give this everything she’s got. She is excited about showing the world that she can do this, and do this well. This is the perfect next stage in her career. Both Britney and Simon are very excited to work together.”
