The Kings of Leon have cancelled their enire US tour after frontman Caleb Followill walked offstage midway through a gig over the weekend, prompting concerns about his alleged relationship with the bottle.
Is a stint in rehab in Followill’s future?
Caleb’s bandmates have reportedly urged the “Sex on Fire” hitmaker to check into rehab following a weekend concert during which Caleb walked off stage blaming the heat, but those close to the singer are worried his drinking may have gotten out of control.
“They are trying to get Caleb to go to rehab. It is mostly for alcohol,” a source told Us Magazine.
A second source added: “It’s true. Caleb’s drinking is out of control and they are trying to get him into rehab. It’s a dark demon he has been fighting for awhile.”
The band was booed by fans in Dallas when Followill left the stage last Friday night, saying: “For the record, I’m not drunk…I’m about to fall over here because I’m so daggum hot…I’m gonna go backstage for a second and I’m gonna vomit, I’m gonna drink a beer and I’m gonna come back out and play three more songs.”
…He never returned.
According to the band’s rep, Caleb is dealing with “vocal problems and exhaustion.”
Brother and fellow King, Jared Followill, on the other says something more sinister is at play.
” “There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade. Utterly depressed. It’s completely out of my hands. Family has to come 1st, he Tweeted after the fiasco.
Hmmm. Seems we’ve got a bit of good ol’ brotherly conflict on our hands.
As fans speculated over future gigs, including an Australian tour in November, drummer Nathan Followill took to Twitter to deny split rumors.
“Bummed about the tour not happening. So sorry 4 all the fans. We just need some rest. Thanks 4 understanding. WE ARE NOT BREAKING UP!”
