In her first post-arrest interview Thursday, Reese Witherspoon told Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos that the hardest part about her embarrassing arrest with husband Jim Toth was having to break the news to her two oldest kids.
Toth was collared for drunk driving, while Reese was hauled in for disorderly conduct after a traffic stop outside Atlanta last month went haywire. During the ordeal, Witherspoon — who was in town shooting a film — allegedly berated the officer and asked if he knew who she was. The actress says she’s “embarrassed” by the whole incident and has no idea what she was saying that night.
“I saw him arresting my husband and I literally panicked. I told him I was pregnant. I’m not pregnant. I said all kinds of crazy things. We know better. We are taking responsibility and doing everything in our power to make it right…I will always listen to a police officer. I learned that for sure.”
Witherspoon assured GMA viewers that something like this will “never happen again.”
Do you think Reese’s squeaky clean image can recover from this PR nightmare?
