“McSteamy’s” Dumps “The Noxema Girl.” Actor Eric Dane, best known for his role as dashing “Dr. McSteamy” on the Golden Globe-winning medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy, has reportedly left his wife of four years, Rebecca Gayheart, 37. Breakup rumors for the handsome couple, who married in Las Vegas in 2004, first surfaced after Eric, 35, fled the couple’s West Hollywood home and checked into Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont Hotel earlier this Summmer.

“They’ve been trying to keep it quiet while they work on their problems, but the problems may be too great to overcome,” says a friend of the couple, who describes the condition of the marriage as “critical.”

“Eric and Rebecca used to love spending time together and were barely apart,” one Star Magazine insider explains. “As Eric’s gotten more famous, Rebecca’s behavior has gotten more erratic. One second, she’s jealous of his success; the next, she’s angry and won’t speak to him. Eric never knew what to expect.”
