Talk about an outrage! After 26 years, PBS has decided that it’s over the rainbow.

Public Television has pulled the plug on the once popular children’s literacy series Reading Rainbow, hosted by Roots star LeVar Burton. The show, which debuted in 1983 and wrapped production in 2006, aired its final episode Friday, wrapping up more than two decades of teaching children to read.

In addition, the Reading Rainbow site at pbskids.org will be discontinued in December, according to a PBS website.
