Grammy Award-winning singer Pink says a 13-year-old fan’s harrowing story of rape stopped her from quitting the recording industry.
The teen fan described how she and her deceased mother had been raped by her grandfather and urged the “There You Go” singer to “never stop” because her music gave her a reason to live.
“I remember being in Paris and talking about my childhood, my parents divorcing and I started crying during an interview. I thought I was over music and I couldn’t take any more,” Pink says.
“But then, not long after, I got a letter from this girl saying her grandfather was raping her. I get chills even talking about it. I have 50 of the most insanely awful letters that remind me that this job isn’t about me.”
