Randy Quaid and his wife Evi –finally — appeared in court Tuesday, where the couple pleaded not guilty to felony charges of defrauding an innkeeper.

The Quaids skipped out on half a dozen previous court hearings without explanation after being accused of using an invalid credit card to defraud San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito of more than $10,000 in October. Evi was arrested in Texas over the weekend, following the couple’s latest no-show. Randy and Evi insist they’ve paid the hotel bill and are hoping to have the case dismissed.

Randy Quaid — the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid — is best-known for supporting roles in films such as Independence Day and National Lampoon’s Vacation.
