United Nations Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is speaking out in protest of a Florida pastor’s plan to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday’s ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The Quran-torching event on Saturday is being spearheaded by Pastor Terry Jones, who heads up a tiny, little-known church in Gainesville Florida. Despite receiving hundreds of death threats, Jones refuses to call off the demonstration, which is fueling growing fears about heightened Christian-Muslim tensions in the United States and abroad.

“I have hardly the words that somebody would do that to somebody’s religious book,” said Jolie, who is in Pakistan this week to meet with victims of the floods there. She added that she supports President Obama’s vocal opposition to Pastor Jones’ controversial plan.

In addition, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the latest government official to condemn the planned burning of 100 Qurans on the anniversary of 9/11.
