Matt Dillon and Taraji P. Henson announced the nominees for The 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards on Tuesday, and critically-hailed dramas Precious: Based on the novel Push by Sapphire and The Last Station are leading the way with five nominations each.

Precious Breaks Box Office Record In Limited Release

Both films are up for the coveted Best Feature film honor. Precious’ leading lady, acting novice Gabourey Sidibe, is nominated for her performance as an obese teen. And comedienne Mo’Nique, who plays Precious’ abusive mother, also snagged a nod. 500 Days of Summer, Amreeka, Precious, and Sin Nombre all received nods in the best film category.

The winners will be selected from 240 submissions at The Spirit Awards that will air live, two days before the Oscars, on Friday, March 5, 2010 @ 8:00PM PST/11:00PM EST on IFC (Independent Film Channel).
