Poor Ticket Sales! Is Britney Spears’ Vegas Residency a Bust?
The Snitch Circuit is heating up with reports suggesting that all the hype surrounding Britney Spears’ two-year residency at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas is nothing more than that…a lot of hype.
RadarOnline spoke with industry insiders who claim that everyone involved in the Sin City production, Britney: Piece of Me, is beside themselves over what’s being called dismal ticket sales. For Brit’s first 16 shows, running from late December until mid-February, Britney has only sold-out just three shows; this despite media blitz and a promotional tour.
“After spending hundreds of thousands on promo, they expected to instantly sell out all of the first 16 shows, but they didn’t come close! In fact, Britney only sold out three of the 16 shows put on sale and many are considering this a disaster.”
Vegas showstoppers Celine Dion and Shania Twain sold out their first block of shows right away, setting the bar pretty high for Brit.
“There are nearly 50 shows a year and the theater is small…it only holds about 4,500 people. So all of this put together really isn’t looking well for Britney. Ticket sales need to start skyrocketing or else there’s going to be a lot of disappointed investors and people involved with the show.”
Spears, who has an estimated worth of $44 million, will be raking in a reported $15 million a year for her residency.
