Piers Morgan says Boss actor Kelsey Grammer cancelled their scheduled Wednesday night interview just moments before the sit-down was set to begin.
And the Brit is no happy camper.
“Kelsey Grammer was supposed to be on my show now but ran out of the building. Strange,” Morgan — host of CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight — said via Twitter.
In a series of later tweets, Morgan added:
“Kelsey Grammer saw a photo of his ex wife Camille in the open to our show and legged it. Extraordinary. Never had this happen before.”
“I had a very friendly chat with Kelsey backstage. He said he was really looking forward to the interview. Weird…I like Kelsey Grammer personally, but this was a shockingly unprofessional thing to do. I wasn’t even going to mention his ex-wife!”
An obviously angry Piers went on to call Kelsey a “tiresome diva,” writing:
“One thing I really wanted to tell runaway Kelsey Grammer: ‘It’s ‘Grammar.'”
However, Grammer’s representative has issued a statement blaming Morgan for the cancelled appearance:
“Piers needs to take responsibility for what he did to Kelsey. It’s called accountability,” the statement read.
No word yet on just what Piers “needs to take responsibility” for.
Grammer, 57, endured a messy and high-profile divorce from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Camille Grammer in 2010. But the award-winning actor has been quite open to discussing his former bride in the past — most recently in an interview with Oprah’s Next Chapter.
Grammer is now married to 29-year-old former flight attendant Kayte Walsh. She is the mother of his newborn daughter, Faith.
