People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is putting the kibosh on plans to shame womanizer Tiger Woods with an ad for its animal birth control campaign. The group is under fire for plans to release a billboard featuring the shamed golfer’s image alongside the following tagline:
“Too much sex can be a bad thing…. for little tigers too. Help keep cats (and dogs) out of trouble: Always spay and neuter!”
On Wednesday, the controversial animal rights group unveiled the billboard, which it had hoped to post near Woods’ Isleworth home in Windermere, Florida. The PGA champion never gave the OK for PETA to use his likeness in any of its campaigns, but according to the group, the idea was “too good to pass up.”
Sadly for PETA, this is one joke that won’t make it to the punchline. Tiger’s legal team has already presented the group with a cease and desist order that will prevent the ad from seeing the light of day: “In light of conversations we have had with Mr. Woods’ attorneys, plans to run our billboard are on hold at this time,” a PETA rep said on Thursday.
